Just a short drive from Texarkana, the 50th Annual Hope Watermelon Festival returns to Fair Park in Hope, Arkansas, August 6-8. Celebrating its Golden Jubilee, the festival features three days of live entertainment, arts and crafts, great food, the Watermelon Olympics, eating and seed-spitting contests, a parade, classic cars, kids’ activities, and plenty of free slices of Hope’s world-famous watermelon. The celebration concludes Saturday night with a concert by Grammy Award-winning country artist Gretchen Wilson, with Arkansas native Mae Estes opening the show. Admission to the festival grounds is free, with tickets required for the Saturday night concert.
