Texarkana Man Arrested After Crashing Into TTPD Patrol Vehicle

Texarkana Police have arrested Brian Owens, 31, after he crashed into a TTPD Patrol Vehicle driven by officer Landon Simmons. Officer Simmons was treated at TEC and released. Owens has been charged with DWI and was booked into the Bi-State Jail.

    Media Release:

Officer Landon Simmons had just started his shift minutes before when his patrol vehicle was hit by another car at South Lake Drive and W. 4th Street last night. Thankfully, he was only slightly injured – but his unit is a total loss.

Simmons was trying to turn onto Lake Drive when a northbound Chrysler Pacifica, driven by 31-year-old Brian Owens, hit him. Surveillance video from a nearby business that showed that Simmons was actually the second vehicle to turn on Lake Drive after their light turned green. At the same time, Owens’ vehicle could be seen approaching the intersection from the south at a high rate of speed. He never slowed down for the red light or seemed to have done anything to avoid the crash.

Owens was arrested for DWI and booked into the Bi-State Jail after being checked out at the hospital.

Landon was taken to Texarkana Emergency Center, where he treated and later released. We are thankful that no one was seriously injured.
