The first ever Robotics Showcase is scheduled for Wednesday, October 4 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at Eagle Hall on the Texas A&M University – Texarkana Campus.

    Press Release:

The Program for Learning and Community Engagement will host its first-ever Ark-La-Tex Robotics Showcase on Wednesday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Eagle Hall of the University Center on the Texas A&M University-Texarkana campus, 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas.

Several local and regional school districts will present or attend the event along with representatives from local businesses and industries.

“The showcase is an open ‘come and go’ opportunity for college students, as well as middle school and high school students, and local business and industry partners to showcase their use of robotics and automation technologies,” said Dr. Corrine Hinton, chair of the PLACE Committee at A&M-Texarkana. “Several area schools will bring artifacts from their robotics teams, and our business and industry representatives will bring examples of their technologies’ application in the workplace. In the end, we want everyone to have an opportunity to learn from each other.”

PLACE is a faculty-led program designed to create a community of learners comprising A&M-Texarkana students, faculty, staff and the community at large. PLACE chooses an annual theme around which to organize a lecture series and other activities that provide focal points for learning and discussion. This year’s theme is “Science and Technology.”

For more information or to participate in the showcase, contact Dr. Corrine Hinton, PLACE chair, at Corrine.Hinton@tamut.edu and visit the PLACE website at tamut.edu/PLACE.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
