A domestic disturbance turned dangerous on the evening of October 10, 2024, when officers from the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department responded to a volatile situation in the 3000 block of Grand Avenue. Larry Jefferson, the suspect, was arrested and now faces multiple charges following a series of alarming events.
Police were dispatched at approximately 5:38 p.m. after reports of a disturbance. According to witnesses on the scene, Jefferson had arrived at a residence where his ex-girlfriend was visiting a male friend. Jefferson, reportedly searching for his ex, briefly left the scene only to return with a black and gray handgun. Witnesses said he pointed the weapon at the male friend and then turned it on his ex-girlfriend, forcing her into his vehicle before fleeing southbound on Grand Avenue in a gray SUV.
While investigating, officers discovered a cell phone in the grass that belonged to Jefferson. Meanwhile, the victim’s father was able to track his daughter’s location using her phone, which led him to the area near the airport. He received a call from his daughter, who said Jefferson had let her out near the airport. Moments later, he found her safe, but her ordeal was not yet over.
The victim reported that after being released, Jefferson—now in a gold Chevrolet pickup truck with another male—had circled the area and fired shots at her as she walked.
Officers quickly tracked down Jefferson, finding him in the gold pickup at the Orleans Apartments on East 24th Street. He was arrested without incident and charged with Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member, Aggravated Assault, and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm from a Vehicle (2nd Degree).
The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
