With a Winter Storm Warning in effect and freezing rain, snow, ice, and frigid temperatures forecasted for Thursday and Friday, Texarkana’s shelters are stepping up to provide warmth, meals, and safety for the homeless and others in need.
The Salvation Army, Randy Sams’ Outreach Center, and Mission Texarkana are coordinating efforts with city officials to ensure no one is left out in the cold. Each organization is opening its doors to offer shelter, hot meals, and essential supplies to those seeking refuge from the dangerous weather conditions.
Support from Local Shelters:
- The Salvation Army has prepared sleeping cots and is distributing warm clothing essentials to both shelter guests and those who prefer to remain in their homes.
- Mission Texarkana and Randy Sams’ Outreach Center are also providing meals and warm accommodations, anticipating high demand as the storm arrives.
Items Needed:
As demand increases, these shelters rely on the generosity of the Texarkana community to keep operations running smoothly. Donations of the following are urgently needed:
- Coats, jackets, and blankets
- Warm clothing (hats, socks, scarves, gloves)
- Food, water, and non-perishable items
Where to Donate:
