Texarkana Talks: Local E-Sport Coaches Discuss Programs at Area Schools

In the latest episode of the Texarkana Talks Podcast, we learn more about E-Sports and all of the new programs growing in our local High Schools and Colleges. We sit down with Coach Allen from Texas High, Coach Powers of Arkansas High, and Coach Tillis with TAMU-T.

E-Sports and Gaming, are NOT the same thing.

    What is E-Sports?

ESports turns online gaming into a spectator sport. It mimics the experience of watching a professional sporting event, except instead of watching a physical event, spectators watch video gamers compete against each other.

The technical definition of a sport is “an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.” By this definition, esports are absolutely sports.

In this episode we learn about the programs at Texas High, Arkansas High, and TAMU-T and how kids can get involved. This is sort of an abbreviated episode and we will have the coaches back real soon, as this is a great topic as we move into video production with the program.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
