Texarkana to Celebrate 5th Annual Juneteenth Parade This Saturday

The spirit of freedom, unity, and community pride will take center stage this weekend as the 5th Annual Texarkana Juneteenth Parade rolls through town on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Four States Fairgrounds.

This year’s theme, “The Echoes Within”, invites participants and spectators alike to reflect on the enduring legacy of Juneteenth and make their voices heard in celebration of freedom, culture, and resilience.

The 2025 parade holds special meaning as it honors Dee Dee Woods as Grand Marshal. A beloved voice in the community for decades, Woods dedicated her life to God, radio broadcasting, and uplifting others through service. Her memory will be honored throughout the event, and organizers say her absence will be deeply felt by many in the Ark-La-Tex.

The parade kicks off at 5:00 p.m. at the Four States Fairgrounds in Texarkana, Arkansas, promising an evening of vibrant floats, marching bands, community groups, and local organizations coming together in a spirited display of culture and history.

Ayden Howard, the event host, encourages residents to take part, whether by joining the parade or cheering from the sidelines. “This is about celebrating our stories, our history, and our future together,” Howard said.

    Special thanks to The Scholars.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
