A&M – Texarkana Women’s Soccer Team Moves Into Semi-finals


The Texas A&M – Texarkana Women’s soccer team is moving up in the RRAC Women’s Soccer Tournament. The Lady Eagles will now take on the #2 seed University of St. Thomas in Houston on Thursday, November 10.

The Texas A&M University-Texarkana women’s soccer team advanced to the semi-final round of the Red River Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament following a 1-0 victory Friday over #4 seed Wiley College in Marshall, Texas.

The first half of Friday’s match was held scoreless with great play from both teams. In the second half, A&M-Texarkana gained the lead in the 74th minute of the match.

Samantha Sharpnack-Isom, a junior from Round Rock, Texas, recorded a match-winning goal for the Eagles. Sharpnack-Isom has recorded a goal in each of the last three games.

Senior Gabriella Flores of Sanger, California, played the entire match, recording 13 saves in the Eagles win.

A&M-Texarkana took a total of 18 shots in the game, with 13 of those being on goal. Wiley took a total of 24 shots, with 13 shots on goal.

A&M-Texarkana women’s soccer team’s overall record sits at 13-6 and 6-4 in RRAC play for the season.

“I would like to extend a congratulations to our women’s soccer team and Head Coach Don Koontz for a tremendous effort last week in their victory over Wiley College in the quarterfinals of the Red River Athletic Conference Soccer Tournament,” said Director of Athletics Michael Galvan. “This team has seen its ups and downs throughout the year and yet they continue to display that drive to be a better team at the end of the year which is when it counts the most.  It’s a great day to be an Eagle.”

The team will travel to Houston, Texas, on Thursday, Nov. 10, to take on #2 seed University of St. Thomas at 1:30 p.m. in the semi-finals of the RRAC tournament.
