Texarkana’s 2021 Veterans Day Parade in Downtown [VIDEO]

The 33rd annual Texarkana Area Veterans Council “Veterans Day Parade” took place at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 13. It was a bit cold and windy, also the first day of deer season in Arkansas, so spectator turnout was sparse, but a huge thank you to all of the people that came out to participate.

As the move for KLFI-TV into their new building downtown is currently underway, we did the best we could to get this year’s parade on-air live but due to the move and tech work being done today, we had to stream live on their YouTube channel instead.

Also, it’s worth mentioning that Greg and the bunch with our Texarkana Area Veteran’s Council decided last week to just open it up and invite anybody and everybody that wanted to be in the parade to show their gratitude to our Afghanistan vets, and man did they come out to show their support. However, that means that the commentators did not have a lot of the entry information, and the rest was out of order but did the best we could. We sincerely apologize if we missed you or mistook who, where, or, you know.

There were Veterans and Veteran Groups, Boy Scouts, our High School Bands, lots of Rock Off-Road Jeeps, Corvettes, Classic and antique car… (one of my favorite entries was the Westlawn School Bus with all of the kids yelling Happy Veterans Day).

Thank you, Fabienne Thrash, she knows everybody so as long as she can see who’s on the float she knows them. Thank you to Red River Lumber Company for use of the flatbed truck to use as a platform, thank you to every single person that participated or came out to show support, but most of all thank you to our United States Veterans, we love you!

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
