This morning on Texarkana Talks, we welcomed back a familiar friend of the show, Tom Ornberg, the Veterans Service Officer for Miller County, Arkansas. A 24-year U.S. Air Force veteran and longtime advocate for our veterans community, Tom has been a regular guest on the program, always bringing timely information and resources for local vets and their families.
Today, Ornberg shared updates about the services available through his office — everything from helping veterans navigate VA claims and healthcare options to accessing pensions, burial honors, and other important benefits. He reminded listeners how important it is for veterans not to tackle these complicated systems alone.
“That’s what I’m here for,” Ornberg said. “It’s my job, and my honor, to help veterans and their families get the benefits they’ve earned.”
In addition to offering vital services, Tom, Suzy Kroll with Ben’s Heart Ministries, and our team at Texarkana Talks used this morning’s visit to officially kick off a community-wide effort to make this year’s 2025 Texarkana Veterans Day Parade the biggest one yet. Starting today — and every single day between now and parade day on Saturday, November 8 — we’ll be spreading the word, rallying support, and encouraging everyone in the community to show up and show out for our veterans.
“We owe it to the men and women who’ve served to line those streets, wave those flags, and make this year’s parade something truly unforgettable,” Suzy Kroll added.
Tom’s office is located at the Miller County Courthouse in Texarkana. Veterans and their families can reach him at (870) 330-9847 or by email at tom.ornberg@millercountyar.com for assistance or information about upcoming veterans events.
You can catch Tom’s full conversation with us on our podcast replay at TEXARKANA TALKS, and stay tuned as Texarkana Talks provides regular updates on parade plans, veteran services, and ways you can get involved.
