Police are investigating a double shooting that left two people injured Saturday night after a teenager allegedly attempted to sneak a firearm into a party.

According to the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting around 10:30 p.m. on June 28 in the 100 block of East Street. Investigators say a 15-year-old attending a party at that location tried to bring a gun inside when it accidentally discharged after falling to the floor.

As a result, a 20-year-old and a 16-year-old were both struck by gunfire. Their conditions have not been released, but authorities say both were transported for medical treatment.

The 15-year-old suspect has been taken into custody and is charged with second-degree battery. The incident remains under investigation by the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department.

Anyone with additional information about the shooting is asked to contact TAPD or Crime Stoppers.

    Press Release:

On Saturday, June 28th, 2025, shortly after 11:30pm, an officer with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department was flagged down by a motorist near East Street and Eastside Drive. It was learned that the motorist was transporting a 20-year-old female gunshot victim to the hospital. Officers assisted with the escort to the hospital and began to investigate the shooting. Shortly after their arrival, a second vehicle arrived at the same local hospital and reported that they also had a gunshot victim in their vehicle, a 16-year-old male.
Officers learned that the shooting had taken place at the College Hill Shopping Center, 100 East Street, in a venue that had been rented out for a private party event. Witnesses advised that a 15-year-old juvenile had been attempting to go into the party while trying to conceal a handgun. While entering the party, the firearm was discharged, striking at least one subject. At this point in time, it is uncertain how the second victim was struck.
Multiple witnesses and evidence indicated a 15-year-old suspect was responsible. He was readily identified and arrested that same night for the offenses of Battery in the 2nd Degree and Possession of a Handgun by a Minor.
Both gunshot victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
This incident is still under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Phillips or Investigator Thornell at 903-798-3154.
