Texarkana, Texas Police are investigating two separate shootings that occurred over the weekend, both leaving the victims in critical condition.

The first shooting happened around 11:15 p.m. Saturday at a residence in the 300 block of Robison Place. Police say a 61-year-old man was shot multiple times after answering the door and allowing two men into his apartment. After the shooting, the suspects reportedly stole a small safe and fled the scene on foot.

The victim was transported to CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. No arrests have been made in this case, and the investigation is ongoing.

The second shooting occurred Sunday morning around 8:30 a.m. outside a home in the 3000 block of Lester Street. Officers responding to the scene found a 43-year-old man lying in the driveway with a single gunshot wound to the neck.

According to police, officers were unable to find a pulse and immediately began CPR while also working to control the bleeding until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to St. Michael Hospital, where he is also listed in critical condition.

Police arrested Calvin Young, the victim’s 65-year-old father, at the scene. Young was booked into the Bi-State Jail on a charge of Aggravated Assault Involving Serious Bodily Injury. Investigators say they do not yet know what led up to the shooting.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact the Texarkana Texas Police Department at 903-798-3116 or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through p3tips.com.
