It’s time for the 18th annual Bramlett Beans & Cornbread Community Fundraiser event, named for Former Texarkana Texas Mayor James Bramlett. For 2016 the event partners with the Empty Bowls Project to fight hunger.

The event takes place Thursday, December 1, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Southwest Community Center on 7th Street. The cost is $5 per person or 6 non-perishable food items. Lunch includes beans and cornbread, drink and dessert.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Christmas Basket program, which is a volunteer effort by the Cities of Texarkana, Texas, Texarkana, Arkansas and Texarkana Water Utilities which provides holiday food for needy families in the area.

Along with the meal, students from Texas High will display handmade pottery as part of the Empty Bowls project. A silent auction will be held and proceeds will be donated to the Christmas Baskets project.
