A 19-year-old New Boston, Texas woman was severely injured in an accident while jumping from a cliff on upper Broken Bow Lake in Oklahoma over the Fourth of July weekend.

It was July 4th at Broken Bow Lake and Sydney Barron, her brother and some friends were enjoying the holiday weekend, before the tragic accident changed everyone’s lives. Sydney was approximately 60 feet on a cliff above the water when she fell. For the first 20 feet or so she bounced off rocks then struck a tree before falling 40 feet into the water below. Witnesses were able to retrieve Sydney from the water before she drowned.

Sydney was airlifted to St Michael’s Hospital from Broken Bow, Oklahoma and then transferred on to UAMS Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Sydney has had 1 surgery Tuesday morning to repair a compound break in her leg but her pelvis region and hips are crushed and she will be having another surgery today to start the repair of her pelvic region, she may require 3 surgeries to repair this. She also has multiple cuts bruises and injuries that required sewing up.

We spoke to Sydney’s father Jamie Barron about his daughter’s recovery,

Her recovery will be very long and hard. We are asking everyone to please pray for her and her recovery and want to thank everyone for their prayers, calls and texts. My wife and I are so thankful for all the support we’ve had from our community since this has happened.

Family and friends of Sydney’s have set up a GoFundMe Account to help with medical expenses.
