29th Annual POW/MIA Vigil this Weekend in Texarkana

0

Friday September 2 and Saturday September 3 have been set aside for the 29th Annual POW/MIA Vigil at our local Korea/Vietnam War Memorial at 7th & Stateline, and hosted by the Texarkana Area Chapter #278 of the Vietnam Veteran’s of America.

This vigil is to honor and remember those who were classified as Prisoners of War or classified as Missing in Action. Also, those that returned and those that are still unaccounted for from all wars. This is to raise public awareness of this issues and to let the families of these men and women know they are not alone in their quests for answers and closure.

One minute will be spent for each American who is unaccounted for from the Vietnam War and one minute for each American unaccounted for from the Korean war. Of course also honoring all whose names are engraved upon the Memorial in downtown Texarkana. All told this will take 1664 minutes. That’s 27 hours and 44 minutes
