Local Man Dives into Raging Waters to Help Crash Victims [VIDEO]

Reports about local man, Dustin Roach diving into the raging waters of the spillway at Wright Patman Lake to assist victims of an accident that sent a vehicle thru the safety barrier is nothing short of amazing.

We all know how those currents churn under the surface of the water at Wright Patman Lake in Texarkana, Texas. On Sunday evening at about 6:00 pm a vehicle plunged into the spillway waters from the roadway overpass. When a woman’s head popped above the surface, local fisherman Dustin Roach dove into the water to help. He swam to the woman, and the current carried them both more than a half-mile downstream. Nothing short of heroic, to think of helping a struggling stranger with no thought of your own safety.

Local news outlet TXKToday spoke to Dustin right after:

We had an opportunity to sit down with Dustin and his daughter, Brynnleigh on Monday:

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
