Wrapping up the season at the Texarkana Texas Farmers Market is one of the most anticipated events for our area foodies, the “Best Salsa in the Ark-La-Tex” Contest, and we have this year’s results.
There were so many great entries this year, with participants coming from all across the region for the bragging rights. The categories were Mild, Medium, Hot, Specialty, and Restaurant. The biggest bragging point of course is the People’s Choice Award.
Judging is based on a number of criteria, consistency, aroma, and taste is most important. While the judges are tasting and scoring, it is really the people’s choice that participants are really hoping to win.
A big thank you to everyone that participated in the contest, and the Farmers Market this year. Thank you so much for including us in the contest and all of the activities. We look forward to the Fall specialty markets and more of the cultural food programs. We will be the first to let you know of upcoming events.
