Your Help Needed to Create Texarkana’s Sesquicentennial Community Quilt

My Granny loved quilting but it seems it’s a disappearing art lately, so pretty excited to hear about this project with the Texarkana Museums System to craft a Texarkana Sesquicentennial Community Quilt, and you are NEEDED!

The event will be held at the PJ Ahern Home, located at 403 Laurel Street on January 28 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

    Event Page:

Join the Texarkana Museums System in celebrating Texarkana’s Sesquicentennial by adding a piece of your family history to our Community Quilt.

2023 is Texarkana’s 150th Anniversary and TMS is kicking off a year of special events by starting a community memory quilt. Participants are encouraged to bring a scrap of fabric that has personal meaning and add that piece to our quilt. No prior sewing experience necessary! We will help you stitch your memories. This is a great chance to share special stories from your family with your Texarkana neighbors.

This is a free event, but pre-registration is recommended. For more information, please contact Jamie Simmons at 903-793-4831 or email Ahern@TexarkanaMuseums.org

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
