“Journey to the Cross” is a family walk-thru experience for the whole family. This is taking place on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at two times, 4:00 pm & 4:30 pm, at Trinity Baptist Church in Texarkana, Arkansas.

    Press Release:

Journey to the Cross will be held on Sunday, April 2nd at 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church inTexarkana.

Families are invited to experience God’s plan for salvation by walking through seven scenes depicting Jesus’ last week on earth. Based on Scripture, each scene in the journey will bring Bible characters to life as families watch Jesus enter Jerusalem, Judas’ betrayal, The Last Supper, Jesus being arrested, Peter denying knowing Jesus, Jesus’ Trial, and Jesus on the cross.

“We designed this experience so families in our community would have an opportunity to reflect upon the journey Jesus made to the cross, where he ultimately died for our sins,” explained Jennifer Parks, Director of Kids Ministry at Trinity Baptist Church. “Over 50 church volunteers will make the biblical story leading up to Easter come to life in our church parking lot.”

This event is free for all ages and designed so everyone attending can reflect on the trials Jesus endured prior to His resurrection as they walk from scene to scene. A small petting zoo will also be available for kids, and a barbecue meal will be provided to the first 200 people to complete the journey.

“Our prayer is that God will use this event to help families understand and visualize what Jesus did for them, and His great love for them,” Parks said.

There are two start times for the event, and those wishing to partake in the Journey must be in line to start at either 4:00 p.m. or 4:30 p.m.

“We have been blessed to see not only our church members, but also the community, come together to support this event,” Parks said. “Our Angel Quilt Ministry has made many of the costumes. We have had people in the community donate supplies and farm animals to use. It’s been great to see how Jesus has answered prayers to bring this event to life.”

The entire journey provides a special way to commemorate the start of Holy Week for families.
Trinity Baptist Church is located at 3515 Trinity Boulevard, Texarkana, AR. To learn more about the event you can call the church office at 870-779-1007 or visit TrinityTXK.com/JTC.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
