Tragedy struck early Sunday morning as a routine traffic stop escalated into a fatal incident. At approximately 1:02 AM on July 21, 2024, an officer from the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department attempted to stop three motorcycles in the 3600 block of Arkansas Boulevard. Instead of complying, the motorcyclists fled, initiating a pursuit.
The pursuit took a devastating turn when one of the motorcycles collided with a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Arkansas Boulevard. The impact ejected the motorcycle’s driver, who was later pronounced dead at Saint Michael’s Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. The driver of the passenger vehicle sustained minor injuries, including cuts and bruises, and was treated at the scene by LifeNet emergency responders.
As of now, the identities of the motorcyclists involved in the pursuit remain unknown, and they have not been apprehended. The investigation into the crash is being handled by the Arkansas State Police to determine the circumstances leading to the fatal collision.
