The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) is gearing up to launch its Citizen’s Police Academy for 2024, offering residents a unique opportunity to engage with law enforcement and gain insight into their daily operations.
Scheduled to commence on September 10th and conclude on October 29th, the 8-week academy promises an immersive experience into various facets of police work. Participants will have the chance to interact with officers from Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Investigations, SWAT, K-9 units, Dispatch, and Administration.
“This academy is designed to provide our community with a deeper understanding of how our police department functions,” stated Public Information Officer Kristen Schultz. “It’s a hands-on opportunity to learn about the vital roles our officers play in ensuring public safety.”
Classes will convene every Tuesday evening from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the TAPD Training Room located at 100 N. State Line Avenue, 1st floor. The curriculum will cover a wide range of topics, including law enforcement procedures, crime prevention strategies, and the latest techniques in forensic investigations.
Interested individuals are encouraged to apply promptly, as applications must be submitted by August 9th, 2024. With limited spots available, early submission is recommended to secure a place in the academy.
“If you’ve ever wanted to see firsthand what it’s like to be a police officer and contribute to community safety, this is your chance,” added Schultz. “We invite all residents who are curious about law enforcement to join us for what promises to be an informative and rewarding experience.”
