In a significant move aimed at bolstering healthcare services in Texarkana, CHRISTUS Health Ark-La-Tex has entered into a binding agreement to acquire Wadley Regional Medical Center from Steward Health Care. This acquisition, announced today by CHRISTUS Health, marks a pivotal step towards expanding their longstanding commitment to providing compassionate healthcare in the region.
CHRISTUS Health Ark-La-Tex’s bid has been designated as the proposed stalking horse, initiating a process where higher or better-qualified bids can be submitted until September 9, 2024. Pending bankruptcy court approval and other regulatory conditions, the transaction is expected to close in the coming months.
President and CEO Ernie Sadau expressed confidence in CHRISTUS Health’s ability to carry forward Wadley Regional Medical Center’s century-long legacy of exceptional care. “We are dedicated to ensuring continuity and enhancing healthcare services for the Texarkana community,” Sadau stated. “By integrating Wadley Regional Medical Center into the CHRISTUS family, we aim to uphold our mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.”
Jason Adams, president of CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, emphasized their commitment to providing high-quality care to all community members, especially the underserved. “Our mission remains steadfast in serving the needs of our community with compassion and excellence,” Adams affirmed.
The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. CHRISTUS Health, headquartered in Irving, Texas, operates over 60 hospitals across various states and international locations, serving thousands through a network of healthcare facilities and ministries.
