Red River Army Depot Celebrates Completion of Major Renovation Projects

The Red River Army Depot (RRAD) marked a significant milestone with the completion of two major renovation projects, aimed at enhancing its ability to maintain and repair military vehicles efficiently.

Depot leaders say the upgrades, which include a taller wheeled vehicle repair facility and improved safety features, will bolster their mission to support Army readiness.

One of the most notable improvements is the raising of the wheeled vehicle repair facility’s roof by 10 feet, allowing it to accommodate the modern military fleet’s larger vehicles. The facility also now includes enhanced safety measures to protect workers.

“As they’re on these very tall vehicles, they’re able to use fall protection, so they don’t fall off the vehicle and injure themselves,” explained Col. Calvin Kroeger, Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District.

The renovations have been in the works for five years, and leaders say the impact is already being felt.

“Standing here today after we got started, you know, pretty monumental in terms of our building occupancy and being able to drive the first vehicles through the bay doors,” Kroeger added.

Red River Army Depot Commander Denis Fajardo emphasized the importance of the modernized facilities in securing the depot’s future and strengthening its role in supporting military operations.

“This allows for more flexibility of production and larger types of equipment and different types of equipment,” said Fajardo.

The total cost of the renovation projects was $42 million.

Since 1941, the Red River Army Depot has played a vital role in maintaining and repairing military vehicles for the U.S. Army, ensuring troops have the equipment they need to carry out their missions.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
