Four States Jazz Festival – Friday, April 17
Central Mall will be filled with the sounds of live jazz all day Friday as the Four States Jazz Festival returns from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Featuring 15 middle school, high school, and university jazz bands, the event showcases some of the region’s top young talent, all leading up to a special performance by the Texarkana Jazz Orchestra with guest soloists at 6:50 p.m. It’s a great way to spend the day enjoying live music, supporting student musicians, and soaking in a little culture right here at home. Catfish & Mudbug Festival – Saturday, April 18
Downtown Texarkana is bringing the flavor this Saturday as the Catfish & Mudbug Festival takes over Front Street Plaza from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will feature live music, Cajun cooking, seafood boils, fried catfish, and more, plus a live cooking demo from “Cooking with Cajun” and the always-competitive Best Catfish Contest. Pork on a Fork – Saturday, April 18
The Second Annual “Pork on a Fork” fundraiser returns Saturday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rammage Farms, bringing together great food, live music, and a meaningful cause. Hosted by Runnin WJ Ranch and Texarkana Resources for the Disabled, the event will feature a barbecue meal, live music from the Hailey Wright Band, and a silent auction, all supporting programs that benefit individuals with disabilities in our community. Over the Edge – Saturday, April 18
Looking for something a little more daring? “Over the Edge” hits downtown Texarkana at noon on Saturday, giving participants the chance to rappel down the Regions Bank Building — all to support CASA and the Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center. No experience is required, but participants must raise $1,000 to earn their spot on the ropes. Even if you’re not going over the edge yourself, it’s worth coming downtown to watch, volunteer, and support a cause that makes a real difference for local children. For more info…
