Get ready to fire up your taste buds because Texarkana College’s Truman Arnold Center will be the hottest spot in town this weekend! The 25th Annual Chili Cook-Off is back on February 14; this year, it’s bringing some Cajun flair with the 1st Annual Gumbo Cook-Off.
Doors open at 11 a.m. and the competition runs until 1 p.m. this Friday, February 14, giving attendees two hours to sample some of the best and most outrageous chili and gumbo from across the region. For just $8, guests can taste all the entries and cast their votes for their favorites.
But it’s not just about great food—it’s about a great cause. The Texarkana Area Veterans Council will use all proceeds from the event toward purchasing a van (when needed) to transport local veterans to the VA Medical Center in Shreveport.
“This cook-off has always been a community favorite, and adding gumbo to the mix just takes it to another level,” organizers said. “It’s a fun, delicious way to support those who’ve served our country.”
So whether you’re a die-hard chili lover or a gumbo connoisseur, don’t miss this chance to warm up with some spicy competition and give back to local veterans at the same time.
Join us for lunch at the Truman Arnold Center at Texarkana College this Friday!
