Disaster Declaration Issued for Bowie County Following Weekend Flooding

In the wake of extreme rainfall and widespread flooding over the weekend, officials have issued a Disaster Declaration for Bowie County, effective Monday, April 7, 2025. The declaration is set to remain in effect for no more than seven days, pending further assessment.

The declaration comes after heavy rains caused significant flooding across the region, damaging homes, businesses, and agricultural properties. County officials are urging residents and property owners to report any flood-related damages as soon as possible.

Reports can be submitted directly to the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) through their online assessment portal. The information gathered will help state agencies determine the scale and severity of the disaster and guide any potential funding or recovery assistance efforts.

Both residential and commercial property owners, as well as those with agricultural losses, are encouraged to document and report their damages in detail. This data will play a critical role in potential aid distributions and recovery planning.

Officials continue to monitor the situation closely and are asking residents to remain cautious as some areas may remain hazardous due to high water levels or infrastructure damage.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
