The Red Shield Youth Center of Texarkana is set to host the Hope Rush “FUN”Raiser Duck Derby this Saturday, August 30, at Big Dam Waterpark, where the community is invited to adopt rubber ducks for a chance to win prizes while supporting local kids. Duck adoption packages range from a $5 single duck to a $100 flock of 24, with cash prizes of $300, $150, and $50 going to the top three finishers. In addition, the Decorate-a-Duck Challenge is underway, giving participants who donate $100 an XL duck to design, with entries due by August 29 to be judged by local celebrities. All proceeds from the event stay in Texarkana to fund Red Shield Youth Center programs that provide children with homework help, life skills, and hot meals after school.
