Country music fans will have an opportunity to experience the songs and stories of one of America’s most beloved country music legends when Marty Haggard takes the stage at Hot Tails Texarkana on Saturday, June 13.
Marty Haggard, the oldest son of country music icon Merle Haggard, has spent decades preserving his father’s musical legacy while building a respected career of his own. Born in Bakersfield, California, Marty grew up around country music royalty, traveling with his father and meeting legendary performers such as Johnny Cash, Lefty Frizzell, and Bob Wills. He later toured with Merle’s band, The Strangers, before launching his own recording career. Marty earned an Academy of Country Music nomination for Top New Male Vocalist and has released multiple albums throughout his career.
In recent years, Marty has become known for his acclaimed concert production, “A Tribute to Merle Haggard, My Dad,” a heartfelt performance featuring many of Merle Haggard’s greatest hits along with personal stories and memories from life on the road with one of country music’s most influential artists. The show has entertained audiences across the United States, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, and England.
Fans can expect to hear classics made famous by Merle Haggard, whose career produced timeless songs such as “Mama Tried,” “Silver Wings,” “The Fightin’ Side of Me,” and “Okie from Muskogee.” Through music and storytelling, Marty offers audiences a unique perspective on the man behind the songs while celebrating a catalog that helped shape modern country music.
The concert begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, at Hot Tails Texarkana. Organizers say tables are selling quickly and encourage fans to reserve their seats in advance.
