With their unique mix of Red Dirt, Texas Country and Southern Rock the Grammy nominated band “Reckless Kelly” returns to Texarkana to perform on Friday June 24th at Texarkana’s premiere location for live acts, Scottie’s Grill on Highway 67.

Austin, Texas based recording artists “Reckless Kelly” will bring their style and swagger to the stage at Scottie’s Grill on Friday June 24 with special guests Texarkana local favorites Crooked Halo.

Brothers Willy and Cody Braun formed the band in 1996 and relocated the group to Austin Texas where they quickly became a 6th Street favorite at Lucy’s Retired Surfer’s Bar. The band was highly sought after at other Austin venues including the Continental Club, Stubb’s Barbeque, and Antone’s Home of the Blues.

Music is the family business for the Brauns. Before forming Reckless Kelly, Willy and Cody toured with their Father’s Western Swing group, Muzzie Braun & the Boys. Their younger brothers Mickey and Gary Braun are the frontmen for their own band, another favorite for Texarkana audiences, Mickey and the Motorcars.

Tickets for the show are only $15 for general admission and reserved seats are available for $25. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. and the show starts at 8:30 p.m.. Tickets are available online at Outhousetickets.com or by calling 903.838.4745.

One of my favorites from their live shows is their version of this Dire Straits Classic…

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
