The grandparents of a 3-year-old child that was the focus of an Amber Alert issued from Bowie County earlier in July have been arrested and charged with felonies. A warrant has been issued for the child’s mother. All stemming from a child custody case.
Jan and Jose Martinez of New Boston were arrested in Dallas County and transferred to the Bi-State building in Texarkana on July 20th. Jan Martinez has been charged with Interference With Child Custody and bond set at $250,000, and Terroristic Threats family member with a $25,000 bond with restrictions. Jose Martinez is charged with Interference With Child Custody and given a $250,000 cash bond with restrictions. The child’s mother, Hillary Clark, has an outstanding felony warrant for Interference With Child Custody. Judge Talley has also issued a protective order in the case.
Bowiecountynow reports that this began July 14th when the child’s father reported to the New Boston Police that the child’s mother had not allowed his court ordered visitation. Looking into the case N.B.P.D. found that the grandparents and mother had just been to court on a contempt charge the day before for violating the court order. Police began searching for the child, the mother and her parents. The grandparents were tracked to Dallas Texas where they were arrested and CPS took possession of the child.
