With such a large response to the first program, officials at UofA Hope are continuing their popular Cook Smart, Eat Smart series aimed at teaching you how to prepare simple, healthy and delicious foods for you and your family.

    UofA Press Release:

The first Cook Smart, Eat Smart class was so successful that it has been extended to offer the rest of the series of classes.  Each session contains several basic cooking techniques and other topics related to eating and preparing meals at home.  Cook Smart, Eat Smart also provides tips for stretching your food dollar while eating healthy.  The classes are instructed by Terrie James of the Hempstead County Extension Office and will be held in Hempstead Hall from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.  The cost is $15.00 per class.

The Cook Smart, Eat Smart Cooking School will teach you how to prepare simple, healthy and delicious foods for you and your family.  The classes keep it simple – simple healthy techniques, simple ingredients, and simple equipment.

The next series of classes will include:

    • Session Two – Grilling, Crock Pot, One-Pot Meals, and Baking on May 18th
    • Session Three – Steaming, Soup, Packet Cooking, and Sautéing on June 22nd
    • Session Four – Simple Appetizers, Salad and Salad Dressing, Quick Breads, Pasta, and Eggs on July 13th

For more information or to register for the class, contact Anna Powell at 870-722-8102 or annapowell@uacch.edu.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
