The Texarkana Texas Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a woman involved in a distraction theft that occurred last Friday evening.
According to police, the incident happened around 8:00 p.m. at a business located on New Boston Road. Investigators say three individuals — two women and one man — entered the store together.
While the man and one of the women reportedly kept an employee distracted, the second woman allegedly slipped away to an office area. Authorities say she located a bank bag containing the business’s daily deposit underneath a counter and took it without being noticed.
The theft resulted in the loss of several thousand dollars.
Police describe the incident as a classic “distraction theft,” where suspects work together to divert attention while another person commits the crime.
The department has released photos of the woman believed to be involved and is asking anyone who recognizes her — or who has information about any of the three individuals — to come forward.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Texarkana Texas Police Department at 903-798-3116 or send a private message through their official channels.
Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP or online at www.p3tips.com.
Police remind the public that even a small detail could make a significant difference in the investigation.
Authorities are encouraging the community to remain vigilant and work together to help prevent similar crimes from happening to other local businesses.
