The tragic accident involving a log truck and a car at the intersection of Lake Drive and Buchanan Road has now claimed a second life. Norma and Lawrence Ware of Atlanta Texas, have died from injuries they received in the crash.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Ware family in this most difficult time.

    Press Release:

The Texarkana Texas Police Department continues to investigate a crash involving a vehicle and a log truck on South Lake Drive that occurred last night.  A second person has now died.

Norma Ware, 82, a passenger in a 2010 Lexus, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her husband, Lawrence Ware, 84, of Atlanta, Texas, was the driver of the Lexus.  He was transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center with serious injuries and later died.  The driver of the log truck has been identified as Willis Walker, 60, of Ogden, Arkansas.  He was transported to Christus St. Michael, where he was treated and released.

At approximately 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday, patrol officers responded to a report of a major vehicle accident at the intersection of South Lake Drive and Buchanan Road.  Walker was travelling northbound on South Lake Drive in a 1997 International Truck.  Ware was southbound and attempting to make a left turn onto Buchanan Road.  The log truck struck Ware’s vehicle as it crossed into the path of the truck.

Officers continue to investigate the crash.  If anyone has information that might be relevant to that investigation, they are asked to contact the Texarkana Texas Police Department at 903-798-3116.
