The beloved “Gathering of Authors” event is making it’s Fall return to Texarkana, promising two days of inspiration, community, and charity. Set for November 8th and 9th at the Circle J Cowboy Church in Texarkana, Arkansas, this year’s gathering features special guests Todd and Colton Burpo, the real-life family behind the bestselling book and hit movie Heaven Is For Real.
Attendees will have the rare opportunity to hear Todd and Colton share their moving story, offering a message of hope and inspiration that feels especially needed today.

Running from 10 AM to 3 PM on both days, the “Gathering of Authors” is more than a literary celebration. It’s a heartfelt community effort to support the Greater Texarkana Area Autism Awareness Foundation. Founded in 2010 as a modest local gathering for authors, the event has blossomed into a cherished tradition. Today, it attracts nearly 200 authors from a wide range of genres, along with vendors, community members, and guests who come together to celebrate the power of storytelling and its potential to make a difference in children’s lives.
The weekend will be packed with activities, including a diverse lineup of authors ready to share their stories, a silent auction, a Kid’s Corner for young readers, free refreshments, and plenty of door prizes. All proceeds from the event will benefit Greater Texarkana Area Autism Awareness Foundation and the many resources they provide along with assistance and education for those in need.
Organizers are inviting the Texarkana community to come out, celebrate literacy, and make a difference. “We want everyone to feel like part of the ‘Gathering of Authors’ family,” said event organizer Tammy Thompson. “It’s about more than books—it’s about building friendships, giving back, and creating a positive impact that lasts a lifetime.”
The event is free to attend, but donations are greatly appreciated. They help support the event’s mission of using writing and storytelling to uplift local children and families in need.
For those interested in attending or getting involved, contact Tammy Thompson at (903) 701-1205 for more information. Be sure to mark your calendars for November 8th and 9th, and get ready for a weekend filled with inspiration, connection, and a whole lot of heart.
