Historic Washington State Park is offering a unique glimpse into the past with a free chicken processing workshop on Saturday, August 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The workshop, held at Sanders Barnyard, will demonstrate the traditional methods early settlers used to prepare chickens for cooking.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn hands-on techniques from park experts. While the chickens will be dispatched prior to the program, participants should be aware that the process of preparing a chicken may be unsettling for some.
This educational event is part of the park’s ongoing efforts to preserve and share the skills and knowledge of early American settlers.
