Ronald Wright, 56, and Rendy Wright, 39 of Hooks Texas have been arrested, and the couple faces charges of abandoning or endangering a child and could face 2 to 10 years. The couple is accused of locking their 7-year-old son out of their home because they claim he is possessed by demons.
The couple lives on CR 2111 in Hooks and reports are that the BCSO responded to a welfare concern regarding their 7-year-old son that they had locked out of their home, telling the boy to never return because he was possessed by demons. A neighbor gave the boy a ride home only to have him return to his house in tears. The neighbor then called the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office to report the issue.
Deputies then made a visit to the Wright home where they found Keith Wright mowing the lawn. When asked about what was going on, Wright confirmed what had been reported to deputies. When asked why they would lock the child out. The Wrights both said that the boy had behavioral issues. The Wright’s claimed to have spoken to a preacher about the boy and were told that the child was possessed by demons.
Erratic behavior from the parents was enough for the deputies to ask if the couple had been using methamphetamine. The duo denied using meth the day of this incident but did admit to using meth as a hobby.
Ronald and Rendy Wright were arrested and charged with abandoning or endangering a child and both are currently out of jail on $35,000 bonds.
