Local Teen in Critical Condition after Accidental Shooting

A local 14-year-old boy was critically injured in an accidental shooting on Monday night. The teen was airlifted to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport in critical condition. The incident is under investigation.

On Monday, December 19, 2016, at approximately 11:00 p.m. Miller County Deputies were dispatched to the 11000 block of highway 71 in reference to shooting. The parent calling 911 stated her child had accidentally shot his friend.

Deputies and first responders responded to the residence and found the male 14-year-old in critical condition. Deputies closed a section of U.S. Hwy 71 to allow Life Net’s helicopter to land. The juvenile was airlifted to LSUS medical center and is in critical condition.

The Miller County Sheriff Office Criminal Investigation Unit responded to the scene and are currently investigating the incident.
