Citizens and officials with the city of Maud are inviting the public to come out to a town hall meeting to address all of the recent controversy in Maud Texas government. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday June 28 at 7:00 p.m. at the Maud Community Center.

City officials invited to address the citizens of Maud are Mayor Jessie Hicks, City Council members Jimmy Clary, Mickie Williams, Debbie Mathis and Joan Brown. Acting Fire Chief Johnnie Nichols and recently removed Fire Chief Roy Beckett will be on hand to answer questions.

This town hall meeting will be moderated by Dawna J. Montanelli, Professor of Government and History at Texarkana College.

Citizens may post their questions for officials on the Facebook Event Page for the moderator to ask of participants. Issues to be discussed are the conditions surrounding the removal of long time Maud Volunteer Fire Department Chief Roy Beckett and the actions of Mayor Hicks following his release that led to a majority of the Maud Volunteer Fire Department members to resign. The perceived illegal meeting that was held to remove Beckett will also be discussed.

The public is invited, and encouraged to attend this event.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
