The Miller County Sherrif’s Department is reporting a couple of overnight arrests that resulted from traffic stops. Christopher Orand, and Howard Nielson are both in the Miller County Detention Center awaiting arraignment.

On August 15, 2019 at approximately 12:19am while on routine patrol, Miller County Deputy Stephen Rhyne conducted a traffic stop on a 1997 Toyota Pickup just off of Hwy. 237 in Miller County for a moving violation. The driver, identified as Christopher Orand, W/M 38 of Texarkana, Arkansas consented to a search which revealed approximately 1.1grams of suspected Methamphetamine on his person. Mr. Orand was arrested on a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony) and was transported and booked into the Miller County Detention Center where he is being held pending arraignment on that charge.
At approximately 4:07am, Deputy Rhyne conducted another traffic stop on a 2013 Toyota Camry just off South State Line Avenue for a traffic violation. The driver, identified as Howard Nielson, W/M 56 of Bowie County Texas was found to be in possession of approximately 4.4grams of suspected Methamphetamine. The suspected narcotics were found on his person, and in a box inside the vehicle. In addition to the suspected methamphetamine, a small amount of suspected Marijuana was also located inside the vehicle. Mr. Nielson was arrested on a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony), and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Misdemeanor) and was transported and booked into the Miller County Detention Center where he is being held pending arraignment on those charges.
