Applications for the 2017-2018 Kindergarten class at Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics & Engineering School are being accepted now through Friday, December 16.

Applications for students entering the 2017-2018 Kindergarten Class at Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics & Engineering School are being accepted now through Friday, December 16.

Applications are available for download at www.txkisd.net or at the TISD Central Office, 4241 Summerhill Road.  Completed applications must be submitted no later than December 16 in person or via postal mail to 4241 Summerhill Road, Texarkana, Texas  75503.  An acknowledgement receipt will be given at the time of submission.  Proof of residency (current photo id or driver’s license along with a utility statement, lease agreement or tax appraisal statement) will be required with all applications.

Students must be five years old by September 1, 2017 to apply. All applicants will be required to take an Entrance Assessment in February-March 2017.

The selection process for students will be based on a scoring rubric that awards points based on performance on the required assessment, sibling status and TISD district residency.  Additional scoring points will be given to children of staff employed full time at Morriss Elementary School.  Applicants with the highest composite score will be selected for admittance.

The Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics & Engineering Elementary School offers students an instructional-focused elementary campus.  The school has instructional opportunities specifically in the areas of math, engineering and technology with direct ties to Texas A&M University-Texarkana College of Education and Liberal Arts and College of Engineering.
