‘Shop with a Cop 2016’ Huge Success for Local Children

It was sort of gloomy outside with cloudy skies, but the smiles of the children were bright and warm when they heard the sirens and saw the flashing lights of police vehicles and fire trucks as they pulled into Target off of Richmond Road this morning.

The men and women of most all of our Bowie County Law Enforcement agencies were on hand this morning, along with area Firefighters, and EMTs to take 103 local children shopping at Target with the Shop with a Cop program. On the Arkansas side of Texarkana the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department and Fire Department took another 100 children shopping at Super Walmart on Arkansas Boulevard.

To see the joy on the faces of these kids walking hand in hand with our local law enforcement officers is something everyone should experience. In Texarkana Arkansas and Texarkana Texas more than 200 children will have a very special Christmas thanks to our local heroes and all they do throughout the year to raise money for the event. A special thank you to the sponsors of the event, and all of the volunteers that create such a wonderful program.
