Suspect in Paradise Club Murder in Custody

The suspected shooter in the Paradise Club murder on August 20, LaJason Coakley, has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in Texarkana and charged with first degree murder in the death of Montel Waller.

LaJason Coakley was arrested on Wednesday by the United States Marshall Service in Texarkana. Coakley has been charged with 1st Degree Murder. The original charge of 1st Degree Battery was enhanced to 1st Degree Murder when the victim, Montel Waller, 25yoa, of this case died from injuries related to the incident on September 12th, 2016.

On August 20th, 2016, at approximately 1:00am, Texarkana Arkansas Police were called to a disturbance at the Paradise Club, 2502 E 9th. When police officers arrived they located victim Montel Waller, 25 years of age, who was suffering from a single gunshot wound. Waller was transported by Lifenet Ambulance to Wadley hospital for medical attention.

Texarkana Arkansas Police immediately began investigating the shooting and identified LaJason Coakley, B/M, 05/30/1993, as the shooter. A felony arrest warrant for Battery 1st Degree was then issued for his arrest. Since that time Waller died from his injuries which enhances the original charge to 1st Degree Murder.
