TTPD arrested 56-year-old Jerry Mangus, of Texarkana Texas, yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:40 after he fled from a vehicle crash at the intersection of W. 7th Street and Texas Boulevard.

    Media Release:

Texarkana, Texas – Texarkana Police arrested Jerry Mangus, 56, of Texarkana Texas, yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:40 after he fled from a vehicle crash at the intersection of W. 7th Street and Texas Boulevard.

Patrol officers responded to a report of a hit and run accident and were provided a description of the vehicle that had left the scene.  Within minutes of the accident, a 9-1-1 caller in the 1900 block of Hazel Street reported a reckless driver in a white GMC pickup truck with the same license number as the one involved in the hit and run accident.  The caller told the dispatcher that the truck had stopped at a residence in the 2200 block of Hazel Street.  Officers located the truck at that location shortly afterwards and quickly determined that Mangus was the driver.

Mangus was arrested for Failure to Stop and Render Aid and transported to the Bi-State Jail.  He was later issued citations for Fictitious Registration, Driving While License Suspended, and Driving without Insurance.  The pickup truck was impounded.

Mangus remains in jail at this time on a $299 bond.
