    Two Female Miller County Corrections Officers Attacked, One Dead the Other Critical

    Sunday afternoon two female corrections officers at the Miller County Detention Center were attacked by an inmate. Officer Lisa Mauldin died from her injuries and Officer Demaris Allen was transferred to a hospital in Little Rock. Her latest condition is unknown.

    MCSO Press Release:

    On Sunday, December 18, 2016, at approximately 01:00 p.m. two female correction officers were attacked by an inmate within the Miller County Detention Center.

    Both correction officers were transported to Wadley Hospital for injuries sustained during the attack.

    CO Lisa Mauldin succumbed to her injuries and CO Demaris Allen was transported to a Little Rock, Arkansas hospital.

    The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division was called in to investigate the incident.

    The detention center is secure and currently in lockdown.

    We ask for your prayers for the families of these correction officers and for the agency as we mourn the loss of one of our own.

    All future press releases regarding the criminal investigation will be from the Arkansas State Police.

    Arkansas State Police Trooper First Class Elizabeth Chapman added, “An investigation is underway and we will be releasing more information to the media on Monday afternoon.”
