Human remains discovered last year in a wooded area near Waggoner Creek have now been positively identified as those of Amber Michelle French, a Texarkana woman who had been missing since early 2025.
The remains were found in August 2025 by an individual walking through a wooded area near New Boston Road. At the time, authorities were unable to immediately determine the identity, and the case remained under investigation pending forensic testing.
Officials have now confirmed through DNA analysis that the remains belong to French, who was 43 years old.
French was officially reported missing in May 2025 after family members had not heard from her since January. According to case information, she was last seen on or around January 27, 2025, in Texarkana.
Reports indicate she had been dropped off near a local store prior to her disappearance, and was not seen or heard from again.
Her disappearance prompted concern from family and community members, with missing persons alerts circulating throughout the region in the months that followed.
The identification of the remains marks a significant development in the case, but authorities emphasize that the investigation is still active. Details surrounding the circumstances of her death have not yet been publicly released.
Local law enforcement continues to work to determine what happened and whether foul play was involved.
French’s case had drawn attention across East Texas as one of several unresolved missing persons cases in 2025.
