Two Teens Suffer Gunshot Wounds to the Chest at Party on 17th Street

The Texarkana Texas Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at a party taking place in the 2300 block of 17th Street on Thursday evening. Two young men ages 17 and 18 were both struck in the chest and underwent surgery at Wadley Regional Medical Center.

Texarkana, Texas Police is investigating a shooting that occurred at a residence in 2300 block of West 17th Street.

Officers were dispatched to Wadley Regional Medical Center at 7:47 last night after two men were brought to the emergency room with gunshot wounds to the chest.  The victims, aged 17 and 18, were attending a party at the residence when shot.  Officers were told that a 16-year-old male juvenile was playing with a gun when it accidentally discharged, with the bullet passing through one of the victims before striking the second.

Both victims underwent surgery last night.  At least one of them remains in critical condition at this point.

The juvenile was interviewed later in the evening after his father brought him to the Juvenile Detention Center to meet with detectives.  No arrests have been made at this point, but detectives continue to investigate the incident.
