Local veterans, families, and community members are invited to gather for the 2nd Annual VETfest on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at VFW Post 4562, located on Highway 82 at 4700 E. 9th Street in Texarkana. The family-friendly event promises a day filled with fun, food, fellowship, and important resources for area veterans — while also paying tribute to a true American hero.
This year’s VETfest will be a special one, as the post will be officially renamed in honor of Staff Sergeant Denver “Bull” Randleman, a decorated World War II veteran and Arkansas native. Randleman, remembered for his bravery as a non-commissioned officer with the famed Easy Company of the 101st Airborne Division, will be recognized in a formal renaming ceremony at 10:00 a.m.
Following the ceremony, VETfest kicks off at 11:00 a.m., offering food, activities, and informational booths for veterans and their families. There will also be a flag retirement ceremony during the event — a solemn tradition honoring worn and weathered American flags.

Denver “Bull” Randleman, born in Rector, Arkansas, left high school during the Great Depression in search of work and later enlisted in the U.S. Army Airborne in 1942. As a member of Easy Company, he made his first combat jump on D-Day in Normandy and fought in key battles including Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge. Randleman earned multiple honors for his service, including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. His story was later featured in the critically acclaimed HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers.”
After the war, Randleman became a successful businessman and community leader before passing away in Texarkana, Arkansas at the age of 82.

Organizers say VETfest is open to everyone and encourages the public to come out, honor our veterans, and enjoy a day of camaraderie.
