We shared the information about the 11 students at Westlawn Elementary that sprang into action to assist their teacher that had fallen ill and passed out. On Friday they were honored by teachers and local law enforcement officers for their heroic actions.

Texarkana Texas Police Facebook Page:

Last week, a teacher at Westlawn Elementary School became ill in class and passed out. Now without an adult in the room with them, his 11 fourth grade students immediately sprang into action. Even though they had never been told what do in a situation like this, they took care of him while summoning help.

This afternoon, we joined with teachers and their classmates to recognize these outstanding students as heroes at a pep rally.

Afterwards, several of our heroes were interviewed by the media and had a chance to be in front of the camera. They were a natural at that, too. ?

We couldn’t be prouder of all of them. They did a fantastic job!!
