$1000 Blind BBQ Cook-off Saturday December 12 Benefits Local Charities

A full day of fun, music, and delicious BBQ is planned for Saturday, December 12 at 67 Landing to benefit both “Shop with a Cop” and Local Veteran Charities. There’s a catch, this is for real cooks because it is a blind cook-off, teams won’t know what meat they are smoking until 6:00 am on Saturday.

This is the annual benefit that the Dusty Rose Band does for Shop with a Cop, but with pandemic confusion, is happening a little later than usual. Not only will there be live music, but the $1000 BBQ Cookoff, Corn-Hole Tourney for $500, and a lot more.

This should be a lot of fun. Teams sign in at 6:00 am and get their meat. That’s when they will find out what they will be cooking, judging is at 4:00 pm, and eating at 5:00 pm. (Having smoked meat since a youngster, I would venture to guess brisket or pork-butt… or maybe both.) This adds a whole other level of competition. $25 entry fee per team, BBQ Teams are limited to 3 members, wood or charcoal smokers only (fuel can be used to start a fire). All teams must provide a side or dessert. More than one team per smoker is allowed.

To enter this challenge call 903.838.4745, stop by 67 Landing at 4700 W. 7th Street, or visit the 67 Landing Website. The cook-off grand prize is $1,000 with $500 to the winning team and $500 to split between Shop with a Cop and local Veteran’s Charities.

Also taking place at 67 Landing on December 12, a Corn-Hole Tournament paying $500 to the winner. This is a blind draw tournament, the entry fee is $25 per person, and bags fly at noon.

There will be bounce houses for the kids and a lot more, all to benefit some great local charities, and all this Saturday, December 12 at 67 Landing.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
