The Chili Cook-off that carries some of the biggest bragging rights around these parts is the Texarkana Area Veterans Council’s 23rd Annual Chili Cook-off at Texarkana College on February 17, 2023.
Some of the most unique, different, delicious, and curious chilis have come thru this competition over the years. With categories for businesses, civic groups & organizations, individuals, and of course “peoples choice”, dozens of teams will be participating. All funds raised from this event goes to transportation taking local veterans back and forth to the VA in Shreveport. For more information email USMCgreg@aol.com

TEXARKANA AREA VETERANS COUNCIL 23rd ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2023 THE TEXARKANA AREA VETERANS COUNCIL (TAVC) WILL HOST THEIR 23rd ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF AT THE TRUMAN ARNOLD CENTER AT THE TEXARKANA COLLEGE. AREA CHILI COOKS WILL BE COMPETING FOR TROPHIES IN THREE CATAGORIES: BUSINESS, CIVIC GROUPS AND INDIVIDUAL. THERE WILL ALSO BE A “PEOPLE’S CHOICE” AWARD AND AN AWARD FOR “BEST PRESENTATION”, BOTH CHOSEN BY THE PUBLIC. FUNDS FROM THIS EVENT WILL BE USED TO PURCHASE A NEW DAV VAN (WHEN NEEDED) TO TRANSPORT LOCAL VETERANS TO THE VA MEDICAL CENTER IN SHREVEPORT, LA & TO ASSIST LOCAL VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES.
